Lazy Tortilla Chips

Craving tortilla chips but don't want the hassle? Here's a quick 'n easy idea for an afternoon snack or lunch.
There's no real "recipe"; this is one of those "grab whatever is in your fridge" kind of meal. First and foremost, you'll need some tortillas. I used the Mi Ranchoz Organic Taco Slider corn tortillas from Whole Foods, but you can use whatever kind you want,  corn/flour/combo!The tortillas I used were teeny, only about three inches in diameter. Experiment with different kinds of tortilla. You can even use pita or flatbread!

Ingredients:
Tortillas
cheese, herbs, spices, sugar, etc.

Directions:
1. The amount of chips depends on what kind of tortillas you're using. I cut mine into fourths and kept each tortilla chip 1 1/2 inches wide. Cut however many tortillas you wants on a cutting board.  Pre-heat your oven or toaster oven to 400 degrees F.

2. Spray a non-stick cooking oil spray like Pam on a baking sheet, then arrange your tortilla chips evenly on the sheet. Lightly spray Pam over the tortillas.
3. Here comes the fun part!!!!!! You can add whatever topping you'd like to your tortilla chips, so long as they aren't too heavy. I made:  garlic powder, cheese and lemon pepper...
Pimiento pepper and cheddar cheese spread "nacho" style chips...

and Dessert Chips!!! Mix equal parts of brown sugar and and ground cinnamon in a bowl or your hand, then sprinkle it over the chips. For an equal coating, sprinkle it over a strainer; if your too lazy like me, just pour it over carefully. I also added a twist of the Trader Joe's Cinnamon Sugar Grinder, which looks like pretty salt flakes but tastes exotically sweet.

4. Pop the tortilla chips in the oven/toaster oven for about five minutes. Keep checking for the cheese to bubble & melt, the sugar to look shiny, and for the chips' edges to curl and turn golden brown.

5.  Finished chips!!! Let them cool and then check to ensure that they are firm and crispy. If not (the cheese one's may be a little chewy), pop them back into the oven for two minutes and check closely.
Enjoy this delectable snack! Try different spices and toppings such as cayenne pepper or a different kind of cheese. They are cheap, simple, yet fun to make!
